Social Groups

Social Groups runs throughout school holidays. We group together similar ages and interests and run engaging groups. We use a variety of frameworks to integrate skills into a social setting without using behavioural approaches to talk about rules, social expectations etc..

Dates and Times are released in Week 7 of each Term and are open to new and current clients.

Social Groups have a variety of goals which are customised to the individual need of the client partaking and the group of peers. Goals are highly individualised from social communication and conversational skills to collaborative play, social emotions, social conflicts and resolutions. Goals are customised to the interactions and activities.

Activities and interactions which occur in social groups are guided through the group facilitators providing environmental and activity set ups, as well as the group facilitators supporting peer to peer ideation and planning. Group facilitators flexibly support the individual participate and group of peers by providing access to group spaces, toys and equipment to support a naturalistic peer relationship. We do not believe heavily scaffolding peer relationships supports skill growth nor generalization to the community. Our group facilitators work as a medium between peers rather than adults or teachers.

You can expect to see group facilitators being active parts of the game or activity NOT by standers or supervisors.

Our groups are run in line with DIR Floortime principles.
